MEC Plans for Employers

What are MEC Plans?

Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) plans are health insurance plans that meet the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements for minimum essential coverage. These plans are designed to provide basic health benefits and help employers comply with ACA regulations.

Why should employers offer MEC plans?

Employers should offer MEC plans to comply with the ACA’s employer mandate, which requires applicable large employers (ALEs) to provide health coverage to their full-time employees. Offering MEC plans helps avoid potential penalties and demonstrates a commitment to employee well-being. Providing health coverage that addresses the immediate care concerns of employees can improve employee morale and retention, as it shows a commitment to their well-being.

Key Features of MEC Plans

  • Preventive Services: Coverage for preventive services like immunizations, screenings, and annual check-ups.
  • Enhanced benefits, such as primary and urgent care visits, specialist services, and prescription coverage. Employers can choose the level of coverage that best suits their needs and budget.
  • ACA Compliance: Meets the ACA requirements for avoiding Penalty A, helping employers avoid penalties.

Our MEC plans are designed to provide essential health benefits at an affordable cost. With Warner’s MEC plans, you can ensure compliance with ACA regulations and provide your clients’ employees with the basic health coverage they need.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) provides access to primary care services either in a specific geographic area or even across the United States. This broader access is particularly beneficial for organizations with remote employees or individuals who travel frequently.

DPC is usually purchased as a subscription.  Members often have unlimited access to preventive, primary, urgent, and chronic care services, depending on the plan. Some DPC plans also offer virtual consultations for even greater convenience and may offer patient advocates who help members schedule appointments.

DPC can be used as a standalone benefit or in conjunction with another health plan.  This type of plan is often used to address participation issues to provide a plan choice with upfront benefits for employees seeking a low-cost way to obtain immediate care.  It can also be used in self-funded plans and often reduces the cost of stop-loss coverage for the employer.

Direct Primary Care offers a comprehensive, convenient, and cost-effective solution for primary healthcare needs. By providing broad access and a wide range of services, it ensures that members receive high-quality care whenever and wherever they need it.
