Updates to Humana’s California Group Dental Plans

Humana is updating their fully insured Group Benefits dental plans in California to meet new state regulations effective January 1, 2025.  

In accordance with the regulations, they’ll be removing from their plans: 

• Waiting periods for California Humana Dental plans for groups with 51+ enrolled employees 
• Missing tooth exclusion for all California Humana Dental plans 

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming benefits changes: 

• Applies to both new and existing Humana Dental fully insured groups starting 1/1/2025. 
• New dental plan groups, starting with 1/1/2025 effectives dates, will include these updates. 
• Changes will automatically go into effect on existing groups’ dental plans on 1/1/2025, regardless of their renewal dates. 
• Updates will not be retroactively applied to benefits prior to 1/1/2025
• There is no action needed on your part.
